This quite unusual and rarely performed composition by César Cui was published (perhaps, for convenience?) as a part of a collection of composer’s romances. Of course, written on the text of a canonical Latin prayer, for voice with organ, it can hardly be called a romance. Stylistically, it exposes the roots of the most French of all Russian composers.
